DESIGN FILES :: A REGAL & MODERN FAMILY HOME IN NEW SHARJAH //PART IV

As we move upstairs, the mission was slightly different, this was to be the most cosy and warm space of the house as it is where the family spent the most time with the kids.

The landing area was transformed by adding a faux tree in a grey box, two wicker baskets (that now hold toys!), a lovely off-white round Ikea rug and an amazing multicoloured wall hanging from Marina Home.

The space already had and L-shaped sofa from Pottery Barn in a beautiful sand colour, however the rest of the furniture in it was makeshift until the proper furniture was selected. The challenge was to stick to a very tight budget as we had already spent a lot in the downstairs spaces (here, here and here) , that being said we needed items that were kid safe and that are nevertheless stylish but relaxed.

The first thing we did was paint the stark white walls in a soft shade of grey (panelling included) so that the space feels warmer. We then ordered an all white wooden furniture from IKEA's Liatorp collection that included the coffee table, side table, TV stand and console table. We even there in my favourite grey arm chair with its foot rest (which we used in a previous project here).

In order to keep the whole look a bit more relaxed, we used Pottery Barns Solid Sisal Rug, which is perfect for high foot fall areas, and overlaid it with the off-white rug that was already in the space.

We also added the reading Mckinley floor lamp , mint and blue velvet cushions and a throw from Zara home.

To finish off the look, we opted for a lovely rectangular woven tray with faux green succulents and stems as well as wave corals and sea inspired potpourri all from Pottery Barn.

For the Side Console, we adorned it with a cocoon wall art panels from THE ONE (they were not hung yet at the time of the photos), and added a glass table lamp and some wooden and leather frames for the family photos from Zara Home. Baskets now hold piles of magazines and the ceramic pots add the right amount of flare.

Best of all we stayed within the set budget and event had 2K left which we got some wall art with later. Our client was beyond delighted with the overall change and can't wait for us to finish off the rest of the bedrooms post summer!
