The Saccal sisters who started off SACCAL DESIGN HOUSE - A multidiscplinary design studio in Beirut are taking us by storm... and here's why!
Please tell us about your business and what inspired you to start your business adventure?
We opened our design office end of 2014 as a collaborative work between myself, an architect, and my sister who is an interior architect. We had always dreamed about having a design office that would span across different scales/ mediums in design, namely from the grand scale of architecture to interiors to the smaller scale of product design. Our main inspiration was that we had so many ideas we couldn’t wait to bring to life!
Where can we find your products?
You can find our products in Beirut at the Silly Spoon store in Achrafieh as well as the National museum boutique and soon at the Sursock museum store as well! In the UAE, you can find select products at Sauce Concept Store on Al-Wasl square in Dubai. In Kuwait, our collection is soon to be made available at a store whose name I can’t give out just yet but the reveal will be soon so await the news!
Soon also in Switzerland, you will be able to shop our products across the country on the online portal www.theperfectgift.ch .
About living in Beirut?
What inspire you in/ about Beirut?
Its complexity/diversity. The urban richness of its neighborhoods and its unique mixture of people means that you will never lack a source of inspiration.
Favorite thing to do in Beirut?
Being in any open air market whether souk el tayeb/souk el akel or many of the outdoor design and art events that happen throughout the year.
What's your favorite way to spend the weekend?
Good Food in a great location hopefully with a sea view under the sun.
A Beirut store you could spend hours browsing?
I would say the ‘Papercup’ bookstore. It is this amazing little bookshop and coffee place in Gemayze that has a great selection of design books both for kids and adults. I could spend hours browsing, sipping coffee and sometimes even working there!

As an entrepreneur please share some tips that help you set up?
Pay attention to the details. Good design is inside out. Make connections and don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone. You need to constantly have the drive to communicate to different people/businesses about your work; after all you are your number one fan. Have an overall vision of where you want to be; no matter how big or impossible it might seem.
Finally three words that I would advise every business startup when the going gets tough : patience, perseverance and resilience.

Besides yours J I don’t really read any other blogs. I’m more into books or magazines.
Do you have a life motto?
“You get in life what you have the courage to ask for”. I have this saved in my phone!
